Children win big in Easter promotion

The Onehunga Business Association’s Easter Egg Hunt was as successful as ever this year. Hundreds of entries were received; that is a lot of people visiting local retailers. The winner of the enormous hamper, which has been gracing the OBA reception area for the past week, came over from Devonport to hunt for the eggs. Ten year-old Charlotte persuaded her mum to drive over and explore Onehunga on Easter Monday, and the North Shore residents were delighted with what they discovered. Describing the area as a “hidden gem”, the loved the atmosphere of the town centre and had a great day out.

The colouring competition, which ran in early April and over Easter, was judged by Jitu Patel from Paper Plus and Sue Newton from the Onehunga Community News. The winner in the five to six year-old category was Jennifer Anne Bromwich, aged five, and the seven to eight year-old category was won by Samantha Gelncross, aged seven. They received an IPod Touch, donated by the Onehunga Business Association. Patrick Tousoon was picked as the best entry from the nine to ten year-old’s. His mum made a special trip to pick him up from rugby camp, so he could collect his prize - a Chromebook bundle, donated by Paper Plus. A boy of few words, his delight is evident in his smile. Mr Patel said he was, “pleased to be able to assist a local initiative which is such fun for children, while also supporting local retailers”.
